Assistive Technology
Imagine being confined to a wheelchair, unable to move your arms or legs. Approximately 5.6 million people in the U.S. who suffer from some form of paralysis cope with this limitation every day.
Assistive Communication
The original Eye-Com™ was created to give a quadriplegic patient the ability to communicate through blinking of the eyes. Eye-Com™ technology has since evolved from primitive blink detection to complex, eye-based computer interaction. The Eye-Com™ eye-tracking capabilities give the user complete control of a computer cursor with just movement of the eyes. When combined with communication software programs, this technology can give a voice to those who don’t have one.
Assistive Devices
The Eye-Com™ is capable of eye-based directional control of electronic wheelchairs, giving the freedom and independence that go hand-in-hand with mobility.
Beyond communication facilitation, the Eye-Com™ assists disabled individuals in interaction with the world around them. The Eye-Com™ can be used for remote control of an assortment of electronics and electromechanical devices such as:
- Computers
- Household Appliances
- Robotic Toys
- Wheelchairs
